Scala Developer (Remote, Outstaff — Fintech Project)

We are hiring a Scala Developer to join the engineering team of a fast-growing fintech company in the Philippines.

The project involves building and scaling financial services infrastructure, focusing on high availability, security, and performance.

You’ll be part of an international distributed team, working remotely in a long-term outstaffing format through AgileSoft.

Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain backend services using Scala

Collaborate with the client’s in-house teams on feature planning and implementation

Design and implement RESTful APIs and event-driven architectures

Work with relational and non-relational databases, message queues, and other backend systems

Ensure code quality through testing, code reviews, and best practices

Contribute to discussions on architecture, design, and system improvements

Requirements
3+ years of experience with Scala (preferably with strong FP principles)

Solid understanding of the JVM ecosystem

Experience with frameworks/libraries such as Akka, Cats, ZIO, or similar

Familiarity with PostgreSQL, Kafka, Redis, or comparable technologies

Good knowledge of API design, microservices, and distributed systems

Hands-on experience with Docker and Git

Conversational English is a must — you’ll be communicating directly with the client on a daily basis

Nice to Have
Previous experience in fintech or banking domain

Understanding of core banking processes, payment workflows, and regulatory constraints
