Teaching and Learning
- Teach physical education classes to pupils ranging from primary age initially and then at a secondary level.
- Demonstrate and explain techniques for various sports and physical activities.
- Provide instruction on fitness principles, including cardiovascular endurance, strength training, flexibility, and coordination.
- Supervise and ensure the safety of pupils during physical activities.
- Develop and implement a structured physical education curriculum aligned with international standards.
- Create lesson plans that incorporate a variety of activities to address different fitness levels, interests, and learning styles.
- Integrate concepts of teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal wellness into lesson plans.
- Collaborate with other teachers and school administrators to integrate physical education with other subject areas.
- Supervise pupils to ensure proper use of equipment and adherence to safety guidelines.
- Assess pupil performance and progress through observation, skill demonstrations, and written assessments.
- Provide constructive feedback to pupils to help them improve their skills and fitness levels.
- Maintain accurate records of pupil attendance, participation, and achievements.
- Educate pupils about the importance of physical activity, nutrition, and overall wellness.
- Encourage healthy lifestyle choices and habits both in and out of the classroom.
- Collaborate with other school staff members to promote wellness initiatives and programs.
- Participate in professional development activities and the performance appraisal process to enhance teaching skills.
- Stay informed about current trends, research, and best practices in physical education.
Pastoral Care
- Establish and maintain a positive and inclusive environment conducive to learning.
- Lead by example in actively ensuring the academic progress, welfare, and pastoral care of every pupil within the class.
- Set clear expectations for behaviour among pupils, and always safeguard their health and safety in the school.
- Communicate regularly with parents or guardians by email, telephone, face to face meetings or other means to provide updates on progress and behaviour.
- Be the ambassador for school values within the classroom, as required.
Administrative Duties
- Register the attendance of pupils and always supervise them.
- Organize and supervise extracurricular sports teams, tournaments, house events and other events, providing engaging activities and guidance for pupils.
- Communicate regularly with pupils, parents, and colleagues regarding upcoming events.
- Ensure that equipment and facilities are safe, clean, and properly maintained.
- Manage inventory of sports equipment and supplies and make recommendations for new purchases as needed.
- Attend and assist with open days and other formal school occasions i.e. prize-giving, etc.
- Complete administrative tasks, such as maintaining records, preparing reports, and attending assemblies, and staff meetings, as required.
- Maintain personal standards of appearance and behaviour as determined by school policies.
- Adhere to school policies and procedures regarding attendance, grading, and other administrative requirements.
