Stealth-mode AI-powered Cloud-Native Health-Tech company is looking for a Junior+ / Middle Python backend developer to join the team.
It’s not vaporware, their platform supports US Physician Networks (IPAs) by enabling Smarter, Risk-Adjusted, and more Predictive Care that improves real patient outcomes.
The team builds and runs the data synchronization between clinics and our medical analytics data platform: they bring clinical and operational data from clinics’ EMR systems into the platform, where it drives analytics and care programs.
This is a hands-on development role in production code. You will work on real features and fixes across the team’s Python services and data pipelines, with code review from senior engineers, a strict CI gate, and tickets that are scoped so that a Junior+ developer can own them end to end.
The role suits someone who already writes clean, tested Python, is curious about how a system behaves in production (logs, data, a failed run), and wants to grow into a strong backend engineer on a cloud-native data platform.
Compensation and Benefits:
Paid Time Off
The company has Unlimited PTOs Policy and compensated New Years Holidays on top of that. The misuse of the policy isn’t welcomed, though it’s definitely possible to take at least two weeks – and fully compensated – vacation, or more.
Corporate Hardware
The company provides Corporate Hardware for employees who completed their Probationary Period, as well as proven their value.
Means of Communication
We use Google Workspace, Slack, Zoom, and similar collaboration tools for messaging, meetings, and document sharing across the organization. We don’t use Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Team and similar software.
Team Building
The company partially compensates Team Building events, when multiple teammates are located in nearby countries.
Location and timezone
We are focused on hiring in time zones overlapping with the US or Western Europe. Also consider additional locations where time zone overlap and payroll compliance can be reliably supported, including certain Eastern European and Middle Eastern countries (Bulgaria, UAE, etc.).
Team & Projects
The team owns the synchronization of data between clinics’ EMR systems and medical analytics data platform. The team develops and runs a set of Python services — public APIs, background workers, scheduled data pipelines, and integrations with several EMR systems — deployed on Google Cloud (GKE) and built on Cloud Spanner, BigQuery, Pub/Sub, Redis, and Cloud Composer (Airflow).
What You Will Work On
Typical tasks: add a new kind of data to the synchronization and land it in the analytics platform; keep an EMR integration working as the external system evolves; write a database migration and the service code around it; add an API endpoint; turn a silent failure into a visible error, metric, or alert; raise test coverage on existing code.
Target Stack:
NOTE: Similar Cloud-Native Experience is always an option.
NOTE: Junior+ candidates are not expected to know everything below; strong Python and the will to learn the rest are what matters.
-
Necessary: Python 3 (type hints, async); FastAPI, Pydantic; SQL; Git (GitHub, GitFlow, pull requests & code review); pytest (unit & integration tests, mocking); Linux / macOS, command line.
-
As a plus: SQLAlchemy 2.0, Alembic; Google Cloud Platform: Cloud Spanner, BigQuery, Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage; Docker, Kubernetes (GKE); Airflow (Cloud Composer); Selenium / browser automation; Redis; dependency-injector / DI, onion architecture; ruff, mypy, uv; FHIR / HL7, healthcare data; AI coding assistants (Claude Code or similar).
Overview of Future Responsibilities:
Development
-
Implement features and fixes in the team’s services from well-scoped tickets: API endpoints, workers, data pipelines, integrations, database migrations.
-
Write tests together with the code — unit and integration — and keep the coverage gate green.
-
Follow the team conventions: layered (onion) architecture, dependency injection, bulk database access instead of queries in a loop.
Quality & Delivery
-
Open pull requests that are small and reviewable, answer review comments, and take your change all the way to staging.
-
Write clear “How to test” steps so QA can verify the change on staging.
-
Check that the data your change produces is actually right — counts, duplicates, empty fields — not only that the code ran.
Operations & Growth
-
Investigate issues in staging and production data with SQL and logs, and fix the ones in your area.
-
Take part in design discussions and keep the documentation next to the code accurate.
-
Grow ownership over time: from a single ticket to a whole integration or pipeline.
Required experience:
Development
-
1.5-3+ years of commercial Python backend development.
-
Confident Python: typing, OOP, async basics, packaging and virtual environments.
-
Experience building REST APIs (FastAPI, Flask or Django).
-
SQL and relational databases; experience with an ORM (SQLAlchemy preferred) and schema migrations.
-
Writing automated tests with pytest as a normal part of development.
-
Git and a pull-request workflow with code review.
-
Understanding HTTP and REST, JSON and XML.
-
Basic Docker; any cloud experience (GCP preferred) is a plus.
General Skills
-
Reading an unfamiliar codebase and finding where a change belongs.
-
Debugging from logs and data, not only from a debugger.
-
Clear written communication: PR descriptions, ticket comments, questions in Slack.
-
Comfort in a Unix-like environment (macOS/Linux).
Cloud-Native & GCP
-
Cloud-native familiarity is preferred. Candidates comfortable in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) will be prioritized, although experience with other major cloud providers (e.g., AWS or Azure) is also valuable.
-
This role requires working in a Unix-like Development Environment (e.g., macOS, Linux). We do not use Windows-based workstations for Engineering or AI-related tasks. Virtualization (e.g., WSL over Windows) isn’t enough.
Business Domain
-
Experience in Healthcare, Health-Tech, and MedTech is a significant advantage
Fundamentals
-
Ability to work in an Iterative Development workflow, delivering in small, reviewed increments rather than a Waterfall-style approach.
-
Experience collaborating with engineers, QA, and analysts to turn a requirement into working, tested, deployed code.
-
There are many Experience Advantages a candidate may have, e.g., browser automation, integrations with external systems, healthcare data standards (e.g., FHIR), data pipelines on BigQuery, and daily use of AI coding assistants.
